Donald Basile (CEO of Monsoon Blockchain Corporation), adding that “we expect 5-10x the number of consumers currently involved in digital assets to adopt them over the next 24 months.”īitcoin Latinum was built as an open-architecture cryptocurrency technology, capable of handling large transaction volume, cybersecurity, and digital asset management. “NFTs we believe mark the beginning of widespread adoption of blockchain by end consumers,” remarked Dr. To date, NFTs were tied to the Ethereum blockchain, however, UnicoNFT is the first NFT marketplace to utilize Bitcoin and Bitcoin Latinum for NFT transactions, thereby opening more options and allowing everyone to participate in the NFT world. According to Decrypt, the NFT market produced 10.67 billion dollars worth of transaction volume in Q3 2021- eight times as much as the previous quarter, and up from $328 million in 2020. NFTs use blockchain to record the ownership and provenance of digital items such as images, videos, collectibles, and even land in virtual worlds. The marketplace features an extensive array of collections, auctions, live actions, and many popular categories including entertainment, pop culture, gaming, influencers, and celebrities. In an effort to make an advancement in the latest NFT space, the platform has partnered with Unico to launch a decentralized NFT marketplace called UnicoNFT. Monsoon Blockchain, the blockchain development platform behind Bitcoin Latinum, has been trying to disrupt the crypto industry with innovative technological solutions. It will also solve the typical problems of using the Ethereum blockchain such as high fees and low transaction speed. This will open up new opportunities for people who want to own digital artwork or collectibles and also unlock the huge liquidity available in the whole crypto space. Using patent-pending technology, Unico provides ways to purchase NFT using Bitcoin and Bitcoin Latinum. This is the world’s first platform that enables the option of buying, selling, and trading NFTs using cryptocurrencies other than Ethereum type currencies. Bitcoin Latinum (LTNM), the next generation, insured, asset-backed cryptocurrency, in partnership with Unico NFT, is launching an NFT marketplace that features thousands of digital artwork that can be bought and sold exclusively with Bitcoin (BTC) and Bitcoin Latinum (LTNM). I always used a real Wiimote and Nunchuk for it (connected via Bluetooth). I haven't played it with Keyboard and Mouse, though. Only minor problems, aside from the rare 1 or 2 frame/s long stutter which I blame on my external HDD (EDIT: It's actually from shader compilation and is apparently an issue that goes away the longer you play?) I have an Intel Core i5-6600 CPU, an nVidia GTX 1060 (6GB) graphics card, 16 GB of RAM, Dolphin version 5.0, running this stuff off of my external HDD and it plays as fluid as can be. You probably will need a halfway decent PC to run the games at 60fps though, and an even beefier one for HD or even 4k. Here's the entry for Metroid Prime Trilogy.Īccording to that it runs just fine with only very minor problems. Honestly, when you don't have a Wii Remote/Nunchuk/Sensor Bar on hand, the Steam Controller is the absolute best way to play Wii games on Dolphin, generally speaking.ĭolphin has a huge Wiki listing (almost?) every GameCube and Wii game that runs (or doesn't run) on it. (I accomplished that by making the right pad into a virtual analog within Steam, that I set as the Wii Remote cursor control within Dolphin, so that the cursor centers whenever I lift my thumb off the touch-pad.) It's like your thumb is a tiny little Wii Remote. Metroid Prime is fine with an Xbox 360 controller, and it's absolutely excellent with a Steam Controller, where the right touchpad controls the cursor's location (absolute, not relative - so that any given location on the touchpad corresponds to the same cursor location on-screen, every time). Metroid Prime is fine with a mouse, but you're gonna have to get used to mouse controls that turn your camera based on the cursor's position as opposed to using 1:1 mouse movement to camera movement. With that said, in my experience a bit of stuttering still exists, but becomes less and less common as you progress through the game. I had very little stuttering and I wasn't playing on an ishiruuka build (because I got much better performance on normal Dolphin in general). I've only played Metroid Prime 1 and 2 on Dolphin, but they were the trilogy versions. The contemporary-inclined Nuevo Ballet Español founded in the late 1990s by the duo of Ángel Rojas and Carlos Rodríguez, is another male flamenco dance team. Another very successful trio was Los Bolecos, composed of Matilde Coral (Seville 1935), Rafael el Negro (Seville 1935-2010) and Farruco (Madrid 1935-Seville 1997), two magnificent male dancers with the sweet Seville school of Matilde. The unforgettable Trio Madrid, composed of Mario Maya (Córdoba 1937-Seville 2008) with Carmen Mora (Madrid 1930-Mexico 1981) and El Güito (Madrid 1942) provided meticulous sobriety and geometric precision resulting in a kind of eloquent minimalism that was more potent than the dynamic style of other interpreters of the era. There have also been some well-known trios of dancers. The collaboration of the great Antonio Gades (Alicante 1936-Madrid 2004) and Cristina Hoyos (Seville 1946) is especially remembered thanks to the films of Carlos Saura, but Gades’ most famous duet is actually the spectacular slow-motion knife fight duet with Juan Antonio Jiménez at the end of Blood Wedding (1981). Rosario y Antonio – Los Chavalillos Sevillanos. José Greco (Italy 1918-Pennsylvania 2000), another superstar, danced with his three wives – one at a time – Nila Amparo, Lola de Ronda and Nana Lorca, but on the viewing screen of the mind, the images that appear are of Greco’s elegant solo work.įrom the 1950s the Madrid couple of Toni El Pelao and his partner La Uchi toured the world and performed at the capital’s best flamenco clubs ( tablaos), defending the most classic kind of flamenco, including traditional ruffled shirts, slick hair and powerful choreographies. In the same documentary, we see Mexican dancers Roberto Ximénez (Mexico City 1922-2014) and Manolo Vargas (Jalisco 1912-Mexico City 2011) known as Ximénez-Vargas, who formed a successful dance partnership that lasted decades.Ĭarmen Amaya (Barcelona 1918-Bagur 1963) had a large repertoire of duets with Antonio Triana, but her bigger-than-life artistic personality is too overpowering to think of her as anyone’s dance partner. But she is better remembered for her solo interpretations, and her ability to inspire and form young dancers. In the 1952 documentary Duende y Misterio del Flamenco, audiences had the chance to see grande dame Pilar López (San Sebastián 1912-Madrid 2008) perform a sober caña in duet with Alejandro Vega. When their partnership ended, Rosario (Seville 1918-Madrid 2000) continued alone with somewhat less success, while Antonio (Seville 1921-Madrid 1996) went on to do some of his most noteworthy work. Seven and ten years old respectively when they first performed together, they successfully toured the world for more than three decades, establishing moves for coupled flamenco and Spanish dance that were adopted by others. Between 19, in addition to choreographing and teaching, they toured the world with high-quality presentations, and a varied repertoire of flamenco and Spanish dance.īut the great superstar partnership was Antonio and Rosario, “Los Chavalillos”. Swiss and Catalan respectively, both were born in 1919, and lived to over ninety. Known as Mercedes y Albano, they went on to open one of the most popular dance schools in Madrid.Īnother pioneering couple was Susana y José. In the 1930s Frasquillo and La Quica were a famous couple who toured with singer Antonio Chacón, and whose daughter Mercedes also formed a successful dance team with her husband. Dancer Vicente Escudero (Valladolid 1885-Barcelona 1980) presented his avant-garde ideas in numerous works with his partner, Carmita García in a collaboration that lasted more than 40 years, although he was better-known for his solo work. Throughout most of the 20 th century, flamenco dance couples were common, and a few became legendary. Any sort of tandem dancing involving two or more individuals doing the same steps in unison, including of course the typical dance company with numerous components, as well as sevillanas and folkloric dances, has the effect of locking choreographies in fixed forms, and individual creativity is squelched. Today’s interpreters enjoy being able to exhibit their personality, and react freely to the inspiration of the moment. But nowadays, solo dancers are the norm, while partnered dancing can appear outdated. A man and woman dancing flamenco together as a couple is probably the most stereotypical image people throughout the world have of flamenco, and professional dancers used to cater to that fantasy with choreographies that might represent courtship, seduction, the occasional falling-out, even footwork “dialogues”, all of which fed the persistent belief that “flamenco dance always tells a story”. In fact, I gave up designing knitwear for professional publication because imposing a deadline on finishing sucked every bit of joy out of the project. Needlework and knitting are my havens from such things – my “it will be done when it’s done” shelter for preserving sanity. My professional life is 100% deadline-driven, short-turnaround, high stress team projects, that make no allowance for missed submission dates. I avoid deadlines in stitching like the plague. If you’d like to see Late Harvest develop, you can find all the articles relating to this project as it unfolds here, in the Late Harvest project index. I’d love to hear your take on the topic! Feel free to join the conversation below! Following Late Harvest In short, would you find deadlines helpful or hindering in your stitching pursuits? Do You Set Deadlines?ĭo you ever set deadlines when you are stitching a project just for fun? Do you think stitchers should use deadlines to focus their stitching, or do you think doing so would take the pleasure out of a project and put undo pressure on you? And if you do set deadlines, do you always stick to them no matter what, or do you allow yourself flexibility? So, no, the fun in stitching the rest of Late Harvest won’t be diminished with a deadline. And I can’t do that until I finish this one. I’m also super excited to move on to the next project that I’m going to share with you. There’s some motivation there that wasn’t there before. I end up getting more done on all fronts, because I want to make sure I get in my time with the deadline project.Īnd while it may seem to take some of the joy out of stitching, it actually makes the project even more exciting, because I’m challenging myself. When I finally bring myself to setting a deadline on a project like this, it really focuses me. If I can finish it sooner, great! But June 15 is my “official deadline.” Do Deadlines Diminish Joy? That’s quite a bit of time, but I’m working on other things besides this one project, and there are plenty of other distractions this time of year, too. Taking all things into consideration, I’m setting a deadline of mid-June to end Late Harvest. As much as I love working on this particular project, it needs to come to a successful end – relatively soon! Now that I’m back to stitching on Late Harvest with fervor, I think it’s time to set a deadline and work towards it. The time-consumers are the large long and short stitch leaves.īut, taken overall, with the grapes completed, this half of the project has fewer elements to it than the first half, which you can see below: There is one more large beaded floral element (on the far left), six large long and short stitch leaves with beaded veins, five smaller leaves, two small flowers, a few thick beaded vines, and some tendrils here and there. This is what I have to finish, before I can add the stumpwork elements to Late Harvest and call the project completed: The stumpwork leaves will be fixed on the cluster of leaves at the base of the Funky Mushroom, to give it dimension.Ĭan’t wait to get to that point! Setting DeadlinesĪnd that brings me to the topic of deadlines. These long and short stitch leaves correspond with these stumpwork leaves: The base of the ‘shroom is a woven trellis filling outlined with beads, with three long and short stitch leaves clustered below. The two “skirts” are padded first with stem stitch, to give them a bit of lift, and then worked with alternating lines of beads and bullion knots. The dome of the element is worked in long and short stitch with two shades of burgundy. I’m pretty sure it’s a stylized floral element of some sort, with the petals of the flower flowing downwards.īut to me, it will always be a Funky Mushroom. I’m pretty sure it’s not supposed to be a mushroom. Over the weekend, I tackled this one small element – which I call The Funky Mushroom. And by selecting one element to stitch and focusing just on it, my excitement was rejuvenated. I worked on other things and took a Late Harvest hiatus.Īfter a little break from the project, picking it up again was easier. And it seemed like a chore to pick it up and get going again. But I couldn’t seem to make myself sit still and stitch. Last week, that’s how I felt about Late Harvest. Sometimes, it’s hard to get back into the groove of a project, and this can slow us down. When you do something by hand, it just takes time.īut golly, sometimes, progress is much slower than we think it should be. No one has ever claimed that hand embroidery is a wicked-fast enterprise. Thus, today we have synonyms like the Norman-derived people, liberty and archer, and the Saxon-derived folk, freedom and bowman. For example, in English, Norman French superstratum words and Old English substratum words continue to coexist. Synonyms are often some from the different strata making up a language. The word is borrowed from Latin synōnymum, in turn borrowed from Ancient Greek synōnymon ( συνώνυμον), composed of sýn ( σύν 'together, similar, alike') and - ōnym- ( -ωνυμ-), a form of onoma ( ὄνομα 'name'). It has applications in pedagogy and machine learning, because they rely on word-sense disambiguation. The analysis of synonymy, polysemy, hyponymy, and hypernymy is inherent to taxonomy and ontology in the information science senses of those terms. Thus, a metonym is a type of synonym, and the word metonym is a hyponym of the word synonym. executive branch under a specific president. Metonymy can sometimes be a form of synonymy: the White House is used as a synonym of the administration in referring to the U.S. Synonyms are also a source of euphemisms. Different words that are similar in meaning usually differ for a reason: feline is more formal than cat long and extended are only synonyms in one usage and not in others (for example, a long arm is not the same as an extended arm). Some lexicographers claim that no synonyms have exactly the same meaning (in all contexts or social levels of language) because etymology, orthography, phonic qualities, connotations, ambiguous meanings, usage, and so on make them unique. The former are sometimes called cognitive synonyms and the latter, near-synonyms, plesionyms or poecilonyms. Synonyms with exactly the same meaning share a seme or denotational sememe, whereas those with inexactly similar meanings share a broader denotational or connotational sememe and thus overlap within a semantic field. Words are considered synonymous in only one particular sense: for example, long and extended in the context long time or extended time are synonymous, but long cannot be used in the phrase extended family. The standard test for synonymy is substitution: one form can be replaced by another in a sentence without changing its meaning. For example, in the English language, the words begin, start, commence, and initiate are all synonyms of one another: they are synonymous. Synonym list in cuneiform on a clay tablet, Neo-Assyrian period Ī synonym is a word, morpheme, or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word, morpheme, or phrase in a given language. Halstead dated other people throughout the following seasons, but fans still held out hope for him and Manning. Manning left Chicago to move to Seattle, leaving their pairing in limbo. The aftermath of that and the PTSD Halstead faced made it hard for them to reconnect, so they decided to be friends.Īt the end of Season 6, Dr. Halstead and Manning wound up engaged during Season 4, but a complicated case made everything go awry on their wedding day and Manning was left alone at the venue. They were both helping a married couple who were victims of a car crash, and Halstead told Manning that the wife was desperate for her husband to live so she could "tell him how she really feels." This sparked their own confrontation, where they addressed their feelings for each other and began dating. The two began connecting in Seasons 1 and 2, and finally committed to each other in the Season 3 premiere ("Speak Your Truth"). Ryan is using his RadRover to ride to and from work everyday. Now, I can take my RadMini to the store, out to dinner, or to meet up with friends, which is a much more environmentally-friendly choice, and the fat tires give me a lot more confidence than a normal bike when it comes to stability. When I’m back in Salt Lake, I don’t need to be driving my Sprinter Van everywhere I go. What drew me to Rad Power Bikes is that they are zero emissions. You can take it on gravel, but anything gnarly is going to result in a pretty bumpy ride.Ĥ Ways We’ve Been Using our Rad Power Bikes Electric Bikes are Great for Commuting Around Town It lacks suspension and is more of a city bike than the RadRover with its smaller frame and wheels. The RadMini rides really comfortably, and you are almost sitting upright like a beach cruiser. While it did take up some room, I was able to store it in a corner it was much less cumbersome to store than a full-blown mountain bike, which my van was not designed to carry. I just spent a month driving around Canada with the RadMini in my Sprinter Van. The RadMini is a foldable electric bike and is perfect for people who are limited in storage space. Who is the Rad Mini Electric Bike good for? Like most electric bikes, the RadMini and the RadRover are quite heavy….about 69 pounds to be exact, so they take a bit of muscle to throw in your van or on a bike rack. The major differences lie in the size of the bike, front shocks, and storability. You can make it as difficult or as easy as you want simply by turning the pedal-assist down or up.Įither one of these would make for a great commuter bike, and with the fat tires, either can also handle a variety of terrain. The pedal assist is only there if you want it. What’s cool about these bikes is that you can still get a workout. The RadMini & RadRover electric bikes also have 7 gears for shifting when you are going up and downhill. In addition to the 5 settings, you have a throttle – just like a scooter – which you can use to get going if you are stopped on a hill and need to quickly accelerate. At full pedal assist (level 5), you can go as far as 20 miles on a single charge, and speed maxes out at about 20mph, although I’ve seen my speedometer read higher. How much boost depends on which of the 5 power levels you have the bike set to. That means that you still have to pedal, but the battery-operated hub motor gives you a boost. The Rad Power Bikes operate on pedal assist. You plug them into a wall outlet for about 5 hours to reach full charge and then they are ready to go. I tested out the RadMini, a foldable electric bike, and the RadRover, which is their closest version to a traditional fat-tired mountain bike.Īll of the models work in the same fashion. Each of the Rad Power E-bikes have a different purpose and different ergonimics, so you first want to determine what you plan to use the bike for. This means you can pretty much take them anywhere – from the steep hills of San Francisco to the back roads of Southern Utah. All of them have beefy tires and a pedal-assisted motor powered by a lithium-ion battery that gives you a nice boost of speed. As of January 2020, Rad Power electric bikes come in 5 different major models. |
